Though there are so many things that you can do during your stay in London, here are just five attractions that are affordable and exciting.
Buckingham Palace
Visit Buckingham Palace and take in the splendour of the architecture while also witnessing the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which is about 45 minutes in length and also includes classical music played by a band. The ceremony is very popular and crowds form quickly, so be sure to arrive early.
The Numerous London Parks
There are many parks and gardens throughout London, and many visitors love to spend some time taking in the natural beauty and relaxing in the quiet spots found in these parks. Queen Mary’s Rose Gardens in Regent’s Park is one of the most popular locations, but you can also visit Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, and St. James’s Park, which offers some of the best views of Buckingham Palace.
Westminster Abbey
You can also take a tour of Westminster Abbey, the country’s Coronation Church as well as the burial and memorial grounds for historical British figures. Take in the intricate exterior and then get inside to take in the memorials of British authors including Shakespeare, Austen, and Brontë, as well as the tombs of monarchs and some of Britain’s greatest writers like Chaucer, Kipling, Tennyson, and Dickens.
Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square, constructed in the 1830s, is yet another very popular tourist attraction in the city of London. Take a walking tour to see many historical sites, each with something unique to offer, including St. Martin-in-the-Fields, which is Buckingham Palace’s official parish church; Nelson’s Column, which is roughly 52 meters high, dates back to the 1800s, and commemorates the admiral who died defeating Napoleon in 1805; and The National Gallery, which displays artwork from artists including Michelangelo, Botticelli, Hogarth, Raphael, and Rembrandt, as well as many others.
The London Eye
Take a ride on the London Eye for breathtaking views of the entire city. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, this giant Ferris wheel is 135 meters tall with a diameter of 120 meters. A trip usually takes about 30 minutes to complete, and you will catch great views of the Capital, Houses of Parliament, Canary Wharf, and perhaps even Windsor Castle, which is located about 40 kilometres away, if it is a clear enough day.
