Whether travelling alone, in a couple or in a group, every individual has an activity, a fear or something crazy they want to do while backpacking the globe. Lets face it, when will you ever get the opportunity to do insane activities that don’t require logic of thought ever again?! Ok, so you might have the chance to jet off somewhere exotic when you’re older, but will you still have the courage to jump off a bridge, out of a plane or feet first down a pretty steep waterfall when you’re getting on in life? I think the answer is a hesitant one. If planning a cool trip, try to include some of these quirky stunts!
Don’t look down and bungee
Almost every activity-riddled leaflet under the sun advertises a bungee, so they’re definitely not hard to miss. A bungee is an adrenaline junkies dream, and a great way of building ones individual confidence to tackle any of life’s obstacles, big or small. Before stepping to the edge make sure you the company have had good feedback, it always recommended to do it on secure ground in contrast to a dodgy shack, shaking from side to side. Oh and yeah, don’t look down!
Raft a river
White water rafting is a superb buzz from start to finish; the fact that you as a rafter (perhaps first timer) don’t know what’s round the corner is frightening but at the same time a SENSATIONAL feeling. A great activity to experience with new colonized international friends, and a good little test of your fitness and co-ordination skills. When picking a company to raft with, it’s always good to look for a river that has a steep waterfall (6meters or so) then you know you’ve picked a good one!
Try and find Nemo
Those of you that wish to get away from land and explore the true beauty of the oceans grab a snorkel and some flippers and get swimming! It’s always cool to say “oh yeah, when I swam in the pacific I grabbed a ‘Kenner’ (sea creature) and even ate it”. The Ocean is a beautiful world, even prettier when up, close and personal with the cast of Finding Nemo.
Stand on top of a Mountain
Mountains are pretty tricky to miss, and it must have crossed everybody’s minds to one-day stand tall on top of one some day. Now, were not talking Everest or Kilimanjaro here, just one were you can grab your walking boots and get going. If you’ve got cash in your pocket then get the cable car, just as long as you get you and your back pack to the top for some pretty remarkable pictures!
Be at one with nature
Now this one takes guts, but what the hell…embrace a nudest beach, and by embrace I mean strip off and bathe. It does take guts, but just think you don’t know anybody on that beach (awkward if you do) and nobody knows you, so it would be a great story to tell the grandkids or the guys in the bar.
