Mountain biking in Colorado

Since the winter months are letting up finally, the activities of warmer months are becoming more and more accessible, after weather imposed hiatus of a few months. One of the most popular activities of this season in Colorado is that of Mountain Biking. Some of the trails of this state has received widespread popularity and is often referred to as the Mecca of the biking trails. Among the different trails snaking around and within the state, there are those which cater to the experts, those which are built keeping in mind the newbies, and those which try and accommodate the needs of one and all.
Following you’ll find a list of three kinds of biking trails near Colorado:

  1. Beginner level – For the uninitiated it is best to get the hang of things first at trails which are more secure and then head on to more difficult terrains. The haymaker trail at Eagle is such a trail. It has been constructed keeping in mind the needs and skill set of those who are still green around the ears when it comes to this sport. However, this does not mean that the entire trail is juvenile and thus should be kept away from by the more experienced lot. What this trail features is a few security measures, which has been incorporated without compromising on the adventurous nature of the sport in anyway.
  2. Family trail – Most tourists who visit this state come with their families, especially children. Though there are other activities in the state which allows families to participate as a whole e.g. fishing, camping etc. Mountain biking is left out of the mix often, as the skill sets are so disparate between members of the same family. But there are trails specially suited for such cases namely, the 6 mile gentle biking stretch of the Denver trailhead at Waterton Canyon.
  3. Expert trails – Finally what thrill seekers come in this state for, the adrenaline pumping biking trails near Colorado. Some of the most notable of these are the Doctor’s park (near Altman), Horse Gulch trail system at Durango and of course the 400 miles long Colorado trails which holds within it a variety of other trails. These trails embody a mix of altitude, distance, complexity and adventure.

You can take your pick from these or if you have time and energy at your disposal, you can decide to hit each of these trails, either way you will not be left disappointed.
