About Us

Hello there! I’m Renee Taylor, a homemaker turned travel blogger and storyteller behind Touraimia, a space born out of curiosity, culture, and countless adventures.

My journey into blogging began back in 2009, when I first started sharing my daily musings and travel notes on Blogspot. What began as a small corner of the internet to document memories soon evolved into a full-fledged self-hosted WordPress site — and now, into Touraimia, a travel diary that celebrates places, people, and moments that make life extraordinary.

I’ve always had a passion for traveling, writing, and discovering stories hidden in ordinary streets. Over the years, I’ve wandered through bustling cities, remote villages, and breathtaking landscapes across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. From sipping tea in the highlands of Sri Lanka to walking through the historic streets of Tbilisi, every journey has left me with new lessons and laughter to carry home.

How It All Started

Before I became a full-time traveler and blogger, I was a simple housewife with a love for collecting things — not clothes, not jewelry, but beauty products (especially those on sale!). It was my little joy — hunting for “buy one, take one” deals or 50% off treasures. I would send boxes of these to my family back home, sharing pieces of my joy through those little packages.

But travel slowly replaced that hobby. After one unfortunate incident where some of my sent items went missing, I decided to channel that same passion into collecting memories instead of material things — and that’s when Touraimia was born.

The Heart of Touraimia

Touraimia is not just another travel blog — it’s a personal storytelling space. Here, I share honest travel experiences, from the food we savor and the hotels we stay in, to the locals we meet and the cultures that touch our hearts.

You’ll find stories of both laughter and fear — like that unforgettable trip to North Korea, one of the scariest yet most eye-opening moments of my life. It was during a time of heightened political tension, and being there made me realize how fragile and powerful peace can be.

You’ll also find stories of everyday travel magic — like being mistaken for a local in almost every Asian country I’ve visited (a fun reminder that travel connects us more than it divides us). Only in places like Armenia and Georgia did I finally feel like an obvious tourist — and I laughed about it the whole time!

My Little Universe of Blogs

Touraimia is my main travel hub, but I’ve built a few other corners of the web over the years:

  • A movie and travel blog, where I mix cinematic reviews with travel reflections.

  • A photo journal, my visual diary filled with street scenes, sunsets, and faces from around the world.

  • And another niche travel blog, dedicated to offbeat adventures and hidden gems.

I’m not always the most consistent blogger (procrastination is a loyal travel companion of mine!), but I try to keep the wanderlust alive through every post I write.

What You’ll Find Here

At Touraimia, you can explore:

  • Travel Diaries: Honest travel stories from different corners of the world.

  • Food & Culture: What locals eat, how they live, and what makes their traditions special.

  • Travel Tips: Real advice based on experience — not just what’s popular online.

  • Photo Essays: Capturing the soul of travel through photography.

  • Personal Stories: Because travel isn’t just about the destination — it’s about who we become along the way.

Why Touraimia?

The name Touraimia comes from a mix of “tour,” “aim,” and a little imagination — because traveling is not just about visiting places; it’s about aiming to understand, connect, and grow. Every journey teaches us something new, every road opens a new way of seeing the world, and every post on this site is written from the heart.
